Vessel preparation to optimize outcomes in fempopliteal lesions
Lead convenor: Konstantinos Stavroulakis
Co-convenors: Jérôme Brunet, Caroline Caradu, Hosaam Nasr, Lorenzo Patrone, François Saucy, Joseph Touma, Hany Zayed
Target audience: advanced beginner/competent
Description: This 2-hour PVI educational session will focus on the vessel preparation of complex lesions of the femoropopliteal vessels to optimize the outcomes. This course is based on interactive case discussions including the evidence and clinical expertise but various hands-on opportunities will be integrated.
Learning objectives:
At the end of this workshop, delegates will be able to:
- Interpret preoperative imaging in complex fempopliteal lesions
- Describe vessel preparation
- Develop a treatment algorithm

Optimal protection in carotid artery stenting
Lead convenor: Katarina Björses
Co-convenors: Gianluca Faggioli, José Ignacio Leal Lorenzo, Piotr Myrcha, Sonia Ronchey, Peter Schneider, Isabelle Van Herzeele
Target audience: advanced beginner/competent
Description: This PVI educational sessions focusses on the optimal protection of the brain in carotid artery stenting procedures by using embolic protection (filter, flow stop, flow reversal) and the appropriate stent (open/closed/micromesh). This is a hands-on session allowing delegates to visualize and deploy these protection devices and stents used during carotid artery stenting and discuss the (dis)advantages of each device with experienced faculty members.
Learning objectives:
At the end of this workshop, delegates will be able to:
- To name the various embolic protection devices
- To deploy the embolic protection device according to IFU
- To name the stent used in carotid stenting to offer maximal protection
- To deploy the stents according to IFU
14:30
16:30
Embolization, coiling and plugs
Lead convenor: Nuno Dias
Co-convenors: Katarina Björses, Dominique Fabre, Blandine Maurel, Justine Mougin
Target audience: advanced beginner/competent
Description: This workshop aims to learn the principles of embolization in vascular surgery, and the use of different devices available on the market (coils, plugs, glue, onyx,…). Participants will be able to practice the technical gestures on 3D models under the supervision of international experts.

Planning and ordering a device in an elective infrarenal AAA (more details on devices and products here)
Lead convenor: Eric Steinmetz
Co-convenors: Justine Mougin, Giovanni Tinelli
Target audience: advanced beginner/competent
Description: This device specific PVI educational session will solely focus on planning (introduction site of the body, orientation of contralateral limb, C arm angulations) and ordering devices to obtain a durable repair in a patient with an infrarenal AAA using 3D dedicated workstations. Hands-on and interactive discussions are the backbone of this session.
Generic sizing is NOT included in this PVI educational session.
Learning objectives:
At the end of this workshop, delegates will be able to:
- To plan an infrarenal EVAR procedure in a structured manner for patients with an elective AAA
- Use dedicated sizing sheaths/booklets to order devices
- Plan in advance using dedicated 3D workstations

Principles of sizing EVAR in elective infrarenal AAA (more details on devices and products here)
Lead convenor: Eric Steinmetz
Co-convenors: Rachel Clough, Lucie Derycke, Justine Mougin
Target audience: novice/advanced beginner
Description: This generic PVI educational session will focus on a structured approach evaluating the CTA of a patient with an elective infrarenal AAA. All participants will have the opportunity to learn and practice measurement, sizing and planning (C arm angulation) of an EVAR procedure using dedicated 3D workstations under supervision to obtain a durable repair.
Planning and ordering of a stent graft is NOT included in this session.
Learning objectives:
At the end of this workshop, delegates will be able to:
- To assess a CTA in a potential patient with an infrarenal AAA in a structured manner
- Know and practice principles of sizing using a dedicated 3D workstation
- Be able to select angulations, introductory sites based on sizing

Crossing techniques in CTO lesions
Lead convenor: Konstantinos Stavroulakis
Co-convenors: Caroline Caradu, Koen Deloose, Wouter Lansink, Nicolas Louis, Nathalie Moreels, Lorenzo Patrone, Maxime Raux, Nirvana Sadaghianloo
Target audience: (advanced beginner)/ competent
Description: Residents and consultants are often daunted by a wide array of guidewires and crossing catheters required to cross CTO lesions. This PVI educational session aims to introduce delegates to the wide range of tools and familiarize them in a hands-on environment, with the opportunities to ask any question to the experienced faculty.
Learning objectives:
At the end of this workshop, delegates will be able to:
- Name various characteristics of a guide wire to be able to select the appropriate one to cross a CTO lesion
- Have an overview of the various support catheters on the market including their characteristics
